LITTLE MERMAID: PERSPECTIVES? WHATS REAL? WHATS NOT?

Watched Little Mermaid this morning, and I was shocked to see how much more disturbing this cartoon has become to me….

In a nutshell, a young girl searching for herself, fascinated with the world she can not have, and in that process falls in love with a prince….

By far, the most interesting scene is Arial and Ursula first encounter, Ursula the evil witch tells Arial, “True gentlemen are not impressed by conversation and it is she who holds her tongue who gets a man.” In context it was made in the late eighties…

Arial signs this contract to become human, and pays the price of her voice, and has three days to make this Prince fall in love with her, and give the passionate kiss of Love. Is love just a kiss, and can you fall in three days? :S

Arial is daddy’s little girl, who leaves moves her heart into the heart of another man. But she does take a risk, and sacrifies for love of Eric…

Interesting how when the prince met Arial she was first human, he didnt notice her until she was dolled up. Brings back to this saying “Men fall in love with their eyes, while women fall in love with their ears.”

Love only happens in the perfect setting, the music, lightening, and the whole atmosphere… You know you want to KISSSsss the girl..

Cartoons condition the minds of our society, and I am a product of those cartoons, except as much I emotional feel that could love could happen, rationally, my mind does not allow it. Humans are incapable…

To many variables need to be excluded, but if they were, we wouldnt be living this life we do now…
